Types of Referrals Accepted at Aurora United:
Clients can be referred to Aurora United for Psychological Support under Better Access Initiative (Mental Health Care Plans – MHCP), Private Health Funds, National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) *Plan Managed or Self-Managed only*, Work Cover, DVA, and Open Arms.
If further clarification of suitable referral pathway is required for your clients, you are welcome to contact our team on (07) 3184 6422 to discuss the referral and suitable practitioners.
Clients may also self-refer to Aurora United, however if wishing to receive Mental Health Care Plan rebate, a valid GP referral is required.

Referral Process:
Once Aurora United receives a referral, the administration team will contact the client on the provided mobile number, if they have not contacted us prior. We discuss booking an initial appointment with the psychologist of their choice and session fees including eligabilty for any rebates. Once an initial booking has been made, clients are emailed a welcome pack with details regarding the service and confidentiality.
Once the initial appointment has been completed, our psychologists may provide an initial engagement letter if required via fax or email to the referrer.
At the conclusion of the approved number of sessions of the referral, the treating Psychologist will then complete a treatment summary letter outlining a summary of presentation, treatment gains, treatment provided, and future recommendations. This letter may include a request for re-referral for further sessions.
Please note that if we are unable to reach your client to book them in for therapy, or if they do not wish to book appointments, or alternatively disengage from therapy, a referral closure letter will also be sent back to the referrer.
For more complex needs, our Psychologists are also happy to work closely with other treating health professionals and the referrer, and can offer case conferences where required.
